Hermes Privacy Policy
Hermes ("we," "us," or "the app") is an AI agent app that runs on your own Android device and lets you use AI capabilities from within chat apps you already use, such as Telegram, WhatsApp, Discord, Slack, WeChat, and Lark. We take your privacy seriously, and this policy explains what information we collect, how we use and store it, and how you can manage your data.
By installing or using the app, you agree to this privacy policy. If you do not agree with any part of it, please do not install or use the app.
1. Information We Collect
Most of the app's functionality runs locally on your device. We only collect the information necessary to provide the app's features:
- Channel connection data: When you connect a messaging channel (for example by scanning a QR code or entering an API token/credential for Telegram, WhatsApp, Discord, Slack, WeChat, or Lark), the resulting login session or credential is stored locally on your device to keep you signed in and to send/receive messages on your behalf. We do not read or store your account passwords.
- Conversation content: To generate AI responses, the messages you send to Hermes through a connected channel are processed and, when necessary, sent to a third-party large language model service — by default, Agnes AI, which is pre-configured in the app — to generate a reply. If you replace the default key with your own provider's API key, that provider processes your conversation content instead.
- Device and runtime information: Basic information such as device model, OS version, and app version, used to troubleshoot compatibility issues and keep the service running reliably.
- Logs: Local logs generated while the app runs, used to diagnose issues. These logs are stored on your device by default.
We do not proactively collect your contacts, SMS, call logs, precise location, or photo library, unless you explicitly send that content to Hermes as part of a conversation.
2. How We Use Information
- Maintain your login session with connected channels (Telegram, WhatsApp, Discord, Slack, WeChat, Lark, and others), and relay messages to and from those channels;
- Send the messages you send to an AI model service to generate a reply, and deliver that reply back to the originating channel;
- Diagnose and fix app issues, and improve stability;
- Respond to support or inquiry requests you send us by email.
We do not use your conversation content for any purpose unrelated to providing the Hermes service, and we do not use it for ad targeting — the app does not include any advertising SDK.
3. Data Storage & Protection
Channel login credentials and local logs are stored on your own device by default, under your control; uninstalling the app or disconnecting a channel within the app clears the locally stored credentials for that channel. Conversation content sent to a third-party AI model service to generate a reply is handled under that provider's own data-processing terms, and we take reasonable technical and organizational measures (such as encryption in transit) to protect data while it is being transmitted.
We do not sell your personal information. We do not share your information with third parties except:
- With your explicit consent;
- Conversation content that must be provided to the underlying AI model provider (Agnes AI by default) in order to generate a reply;
- Where required to comply with applicable law, a court order, or a lawful request from a government authority.
4. Your Rights & Choices
- You can disconnect any channel (Telegram, WhatsApp, Discord, Slack, WeChat, Lark, etc.) within the app at any time to stop Hermes from sending or receiving messages on your behalf;
- You can uninstall the app at any time; locally stored credentials and logs are removed on uninstall;
- You can contact us at the email address below to request information about, correction of, or deletion of data related to you.
5. Children's Privacy
The app is intended for adults and users with the legal capacity to consent to these terms, and is not directed at children. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children. If you believe a child has provided us with personal information, please contact us at the email below and we will investigate and delete the relevant information promptly.
6. Changes to This Policy
We may update this privacy policy from time to time. Updates will be posted on this page, and the effective date at the top will be revised accordingly. If a change materially affects your rights, we will notify you through reasonable means, such as an in-app notice.
